Hey, guess what.  Progress report time!

One of the things that saves Jakey’s sanity quite often, is the awesome, amazing, wonderful invention of automatic e-mail scheduling.  I have no idea how I’d manage to poke you at the right time, check in, see how you’re doing.

And to tell you fun stories, of course.

I tell you fun stories, and you might remember poor ole Jakey, opt to hit the reply button, and regale and old man with stories of your improving eyesight.

Like Shelly just did, yesterday evening:

The 20/20 gains are strong, with this one.  Well done, Shelly!

In other news, the logging tool is continuing to slowly work its magic, and start getting us more data about student progress.  Since there is less than 10% of questions/complaints/issues in the forum (relative to total student participation in BackTo20/20), it’s sometimes hard to assess the progress rate of all the quiet ones.

The log tool is intended to start getting us more insights into progress rates, for those who don’t opt to send e-mails or post in the forum.

Even better if you do post in the forum, since the log tool with add a quick snapshot of your progress in your signature.  Love that feature!  Love to see more reports popping up along with forum posts!

Here’s Janna, just now:

Super nice, right?  Data!

Lastly, let’s talk about the ‘Tubes.  Hugh comments:

One might say that’s pretty far out of bounds for talking about natural myopia control.  Also, how much more time would have to go into vlogging, and who’s to say that doing so would be a benefit to those who just want better eyesight?

But Hugh does have a point.  I like the idea of connecting with you, sharing the things, and making the whole story more than just a disembodied voice (or text), talking about stuff that’s perhaps a bit boring (myopia, biology, eye stuff), on it’s own.

I like the idea, with various reservations.  Fittingly, in video form:

That’s the question, isn’t it.  What do you think?

Is Jake giving in to procrastinating, making video rather than filling pages and pages with clinical studies and writing myopia books, and schmoozing bloggers for interviews and exposure?

Let me know what you think about that, in the YouTube comments.

And yes you probably notice the tendency of an eye guru to struggle with doing things part time.  One day I talk about quitting, the next about spending a whole lot more time on this project.  Then again it may turn out to be curiously easier to just carry a camera around and explain things on the go, than I think it would be.

Head over to the video, tell me what you think!

Cheers,

-Jake
