Here we are!  All moved in and most bugs squashed, ready to take on the world.

Now it’s off to see how to best reach the huge contingent of myopia sufferers, without upsetting the fragile sensibilities of the ophthalmology establishment, nor waking too many Internet trolls.  I sense challenging times ahead.

But over 80% of children in Taiwan are myopic.  Times headlines speak of over 90% of Asian school children at large suffering from myopia.  Something has to be done.

Recently there was a lot of talk of how light affects myopia.

And while that is an interesting topic, it does come with the byline of “myopia mystery”, unfortunately.  A great first step would be go get more of the meaningful science out there, better packaged for public consumption.  Once people realize how the eye works, it will be much easier to ask the right questions.

I see us starting small, getting into the conversation of more of the existing support groups around myopia.  With a larger base of supporters it will be easier to get mainstream influence.

The first step was to create this separate and a bit less biased future platform.  We needed something that isn’t one specific practitioner or viewpoint, something that you can point to without being automatically partisan or member of any specific “brand” of myopia treatment.  I will be busy getting more voices here to discuss myopia from various standpoints, both traditional and alternative.

And the other question is community here, for which I don’t quite have a solution yet.   Mostly it’s technical issues, though hopefully we’ll have more ways for you to reach out, soon.

Cheers!
