Is myopia rehab possible?  Can myopia be prevented?  Are glasses and laser surgery plainly screwing over the public, in the interest of profit?  Let’s look at another query:

Are these possibly entirely the wrong questions to ask?

The problem with our dialog with most optometrists lies in the assumption that glasses are bad.  You have the progressive, alternative health type individuals who are at odds with traditional optometry practice.

#endmyopia has a bit of that tone, the us vs. them.  Even I have gone on the occasional rant that front.

Changing The Message

Some new friends in the integrative rehab space are creating a much more positive perspective.  The question isn’t really right vs. wrong, glasses vs. prevention.  The question instead is, about options.  About new insights, and better ways.

You can be an optometrist and look at “new”, and “more options for my clients” quite easily.  What you can’t be, as optometrist, is wrong about what you do.  All dialog ends before it starts, if the message is “I’m right, you’re wrong”.

I signed us up to a new initiative to bring this more positive and nuanced discussion to more people.  Optometrists, ophthalmologists, and myopes.  Yesterday all we had was symptom management, and today we have that, and we also can look at some newer strategies to possibly prevent and even reverse some of the myopia symptom.

Some individuals will feel more comfortable just wearing glasses or contact lenses.  Likewise many practitioners will prefer not to change.  But to those who are looking for a better way, this is it.

A Community For Better Eyesight

You will be able to be part of new directions and the community, soon.  You can raise your hand and be a tangible testimonial to myopia reversal.  You can talk to optometrists that will be joining the community, who are already practicing with these tools, and ones that are just coming around to look at what’s new.

This won’t be a #endmyopia initiative, though we will definitely be participating.  Are you ready to meet lots more myopes around the world, connect, share experiences?

More of this coming in the summer.

Cheers,
