TRUE MYOPIA VALUE
More accuracy? Check your Snellen.
Remove your glasses. Get as close as you need to the screen to see the word ‘focus’, below, sharply. Slowly move your head back till ‘focus’ looks blurred, as indicated red arrow in the sample image. This is the ‘edge of blur’. Stop, record the exact distance in centimeters from your eyes to the screen.
Don’t know your prescription? ‘Active myopia value’ is what it probably should be.
Fact: Your eyesight may change throughout the day. Try the calculator in the morning, and again in the evening!
Over-prescription is common and may cause discomfort, headache, and eye fatigue, and increase the risk of your vision deteriorating further.
Under-prescription is not giving you full correction, and your vision at a distance is not as sharp as it could be. This can be a useful tool when combined with myopia rehab.
Correct prescription, the point of blur as recorded by you, and your distance prescription value are consistent.
For a more thorough look at your eyesight, check your own Snellen (instructions).
