I’m not so big on the social media thing.  More crap distractions we honestly don’t need.

But …

There’s the social media minion-manager here at endmyopia, who is also a paid member of the team.  And she, probably in some part for job preservation, is quite insistent that I continue to promote the Twitters.  And post things.  And other stuff, which I do only reluctantly.

She’s actually pretty awesome.  Working hard while I keep sabotaging most of her efforts.  And still accumulating what’s now close to 30.000 followers.  I wish more people were that dedicated and on top of things.

And the stats say that a whole lot of you are with me, in not doing the Twitter thing.  I feel you.

On the insistence of our darling social media manager-minion, and because maybe she’s probably right, here’s some of the recent stuff you missed, if you’re not my my Twitters.  And perhaps reasons to add that channel to the ways of staying motivated and entertained, little bite sized nuggets between blog posts.  Here we go, stuff you missed lately:

Tim Ferriss, 4 Hour body dude himself, wants to know about the ways and the things of the eyeballs.

O. M. G., Jake.  For reals.

Social media minion would say, if I was more on the ball, then more of you would click the like and whatever buttons, and create conversation, and lead to more engagement and dialog and exposure.  If I was encouraging and promoting and leveraging all the golden goodness that is social media things.

To me all that sounds like more work.  So don’t feel like you have to do any of that stuff.

There’s also some outrage that you missed:

dermatologistasshat

Seriously, that.  There’s a whole story there, and I’m still actually pissed off about it.

On that subject, what I do care about, is video.  So there’s a little video rant (including a @#$@ spelling oops) and the whole story about that dermatologist abuse of trust, on the new experimental vlog channel.  That one, not necessary to subscribe to at all.  More off topic and general video practice, that, and mostly just interesting for those who always e-mail me, asking if I’m “real” and who I am, and various other stalkerific inquiries.  (you know who you are!)

Also, observations that you might make as well:

sixopticshops

And here Twitter is pretty handy for quick notes, when you’re out and about.  Also rather quite sad, how many optic shops there are in any one given mall.  And how that’s claimed to be sanctioned and well intentioned health eye treatment, not just sales of fashion items.

Lastly, check these out:

flatglassesI was tempted by this idea, for a minute.

Imagine how handy, a super flat pair of differential prescription glasses.  And kind of nerd-cool, that folding mechanism.  Just get the lenses of your own choosing cut for them.

Great idea.  But then things fall apart when you realize that they’re a French design.

For more on that, and why as usual we’re let down by the French, head over to the Twitters, and also hit the “follow” button, and like a bunch of stuff, and tell Tim Ferriss that he just stumbled onto the most amazing of body health hack 4 hour something gurus.   Wow Tim, you are indeed brilliant at finding the most interesting resources!  ;-)  (don’t actually do that, likely not at all appropriate)

Have a great New Year, hopefully it’s one where you nod at yourself tomorrow, with a lot lower prescription than last year.

Cheers,

-Jake
