From the entirely overflowing e-mail inbox:

I’ve been wondering if even a low myope like myself, who has -1.5 and -1.75 loses one diopter in the first 90 days? It’s been about 60 days and I’ve lost a quarter to half a diopter

This inquiry, most likely based on the “1 diopter in 90 days” premise in various parts of the site.

I guess some of the long time click-bait-ey site statements need asterisks and clarifications, for some of our readers. Asterisks which would read something like this:

* You might improve as much as a whole diopter in the first 90 days, if you are an average myope, with 4-5 diopters of a current prescription.  This applies to many who a) go to the optometrist regularly, and b) spent a lot of their daily time in close-up mode, and c) follow the teachings of BackTo20/20 with near religious fervor.

Probably several other stipulations one could think of, here.

If you’re at -1.50, you won’t cut your prescription by 70% in 90 days.  At least not while maintaining similar visual acuity.  We’re not that kind of site, miracles and whatnot.

And just like that, that’s already it for the daily post.

I’m exhausted, with baby sleepless nights and way more questions in the e-mails these days that I’m able to fully get to (at least semi lucidly).  If you’re one of those waiting for an answer, it’s a definite maybe at this moment in time.  Sometimes common sense may just prevail in your quest for insight, as might some of the other blog posts and broader understanding of the myopia subject at large.

Jake out, nap time.
