Johnny’s latest improvement update (here) spurred some comments in the forum. Here’s Emanuele’s:
Nice milestone!
Being able to go without glasses while in front of the computer is a really tangible bit of progress. Now at least for a little while you can go back to just using one pair of glasses, for increased distance vision. Of course eventually you’ll be back to a differential prescription, though then it’ll be a plus lens. That’s a whole new and interesting experience.
Side note, if the optometrists told us never to wear our first prescription for close-up, most of us would never go past the point where we start to need glasses even for computer use. Bummer, that. And if you are just a casual reader and have a low enough prescription still to be able to read without glasses … definitely take them off whenever you are doing any close-up work
Student note: Another interesting comment in that thread by Jon. I’m not posting it here since it’s something I’d rather not have non-student experiment with, though it can be a very powerful tool (worked quite well for me also, though definitely something for everyone). If you read it and are wondering if it’s for you, just ask (and provide some detail of recent improvements and lens changes).
Curious for more, thinking of a late Christmas present of better eyesight, or a useful New Year’s resolution? You probably already know about the limited invites as of late. But if you e-mail me between now and the 31st, I’ll send you an invite, no wait list, no hoops, no questions. Definitely a better way to spend some cash than buying another smartphone gadget, and it’s all going to a good cause:
