I’ve been working up to this ever since I mentally accepted this adoptive Web-child.
Working up to … the reboot.
It’s eating into the book writing time quite a bit, but it has to get done. What am I referring to?
The course. Alex’ course.
We worked on it together quite a bit, years ago. And it went online and through a few months of tweaks. And then …. and then nothing.
It’s been working really well for a lot of participants obviously, and Alex didn’t go fix what wasn’t broken. For years. And years.
But, you know ….
It’s effective, but it’s not totally as straightforward as it could be.
And then there are some gaps where there don’t need to be.
And audio. And video. Explainers. Worksheets. General functional aspects and everything. Needs to be better.
I want all that, for you. This means eating into book writing time, and lately it also means not taking on as many clients in my regular practice. I charge the better part of $8,000 (US) for my basic therapy, so that’s not so much a minor thing when I say “not taking on as many clients”.
I’ve been mulling this, and the consequences.
Alex’ course was cheap. Really cheap. And for what it was, you did get a lot of value.
But it’s not really my style, cheap, and “yea, good value for what you are paying”.
I want you to have the BEST, price be damned.
To give you some perspective: my personal fee is basically pegged to the cost of LASIK surgery. Whatever the most arrogant LASIK monkey charges, I’m more expensive than him. That’s the yardstick. It’s not about money, but rather about value. If I’m cheaper than him, I’m saying “my thing is is lesser than that thing”.
Now I won’t do that to you, financially, in the new version of the program. It won’t cost more than LASIK. At the same time though, it’s time to forget about “really cheap” in the vocabulary of this site.
Things worth doing are about quality. Life’s too short for “cheap”.
So for those who asked, where did the sign-up go?
No more open, public sign-up. The course is going to turn into my vision of a proper rehab program. It’ll still be as good as before, but also a lot better. More of the things! You can get on the wait list (just give me your e-mail to be notified).
What does this mean for previous subscribers?
If you have access to the old course, I’ll make a PDF download available for you.
If you’re still working through the course right now, everything will stay as it is for you. It’ll continue running till you finish or cancel your “grandfathered” subscription.
The new program will include lifetime access, there won’t be a distinction between “core” and “advanced”. You sign-up, you get it all, everything, forever. At a price notably less than LASIK, but notably also not in the range of “a hundred bucks”.
Because that’s crazy, quite frankly, for a quality therapist to charge. No wonder Alex never had any time or money to make serious improvements to the site.
Meanwhile the blog will continue, we’ve got some interviews lined up. And once the program is done I’ll also be getting into some podcasts and then once that’s on a roll, even video. Yes. My face, on your screen, I’ll be traveling to see some of my favorite behavior optometrists and also some dickhead ophthalmic surgeons, all to be talked to, and captured on video.
It’ll all be new and exciting, and better than ever.
Tomorrow (hopefully), first part of the interview with one of my favorite behavioral optometrists in Hong Kong.
Cheers,
– Jake
