This being endmyopia, the largest online resource for evidence based natural vision improvement, we’ve helped tens of thousands of people reduce their dependence on glasses.
There are thousands of first hand reports, including many complete 20/20 vision recoveries, and more than a few optometrist confirmed improvements along the way. We have a podcast just on the topic of improving eyesight, we deal with child myopia, and deep dive into vision science.
We have a 30,000 member Facebook group, and a 58,000 subscribe Youtube channel.
So of course people ask all the eyesight questions here. One of the common ones, eyesight and age.
Is nearsightedness age related? Do kids get myopic more easily than adults? Do eyes grow while we’re young?
There are lots of age related questions about eyesight. Let’s cover one of them now.
Can You Improve Your Eyesight If You’re Over 40?
This question recently came up in our Facebook group.
Spoiler alert: You can.
Here’s some comments in the post:
And yet more:
But how did they do it?
Jake, HOW.
This will take a few minutes of self-education. Which seems most people don’t want to do. And yet I promise, it’s much easier to evaluate the likelihood whether something is true, if you know a thing or two about the topic.
Let’s figure out first what’s wrong with your eyes, before exploring the improving part.
Part 1: Why Your Eyesight Sucks In the First Place
If this intrigues your brain cells, there’s always scholar.google.com and the keywords of ‘pseudomyopia’ and ‘near induced transient myopia” for demystification of eyesight issues.
Then you should ask yourself the next logical question. Which is ….. ?
Part 2: Why Does Retail Optometry Insist On Stronger Glasses?
Shocking, isn’t it. They’re in the business of selling glasses, and glasses is what they recommend to you. An almost unfathomable coincidence.
And then you might say, Jake. Is this just some trick to sell me some hippie alternative nonsense?
Well. Let’s see what them glasses do to your 40+ year old eyes, first.
Part 3: How Glasses Make Your Eyesight Worse
Part 4: How I Improved My Eyesight (I’m Over 40)
Well actually I wasn’t 40 when I started.
If you were to ask an old guru, he’d tell you that age has little to do with your eyeballs. As long as you’re healthy and breathing, axial length of your eyes adapts. It’s measurable in as little as an hour’s time.
Here’s a summary of what I did:
And that’s just the shortest of summaries.
There are more detailed improving eyesight explainers on the basics page, just scroll through the video list.
We also have thousands more improvement reports, many cataloged on our improving eyesight page.
There’s also our vision improvement wiki, our vision improvement FB group, Jakey’s rambly vision improvement Youtube channel. And my free 7 day course that will break the process down in lots more detail.
Cheers,
-Jake
