Above:  A restaurant on a boat, in Laos.  Great fish lunch spot!

I’ve been meaning to post an official thank you, to all you darling kittehs.  For why?

One, for being so supportive and positive throughout all of everything here.  BackTo20/20 and some of you running into the session loading bug.  The never-ending eccentricities of our payment solutions, first forever being PayPal only, and then the newer one having various little bugs.  And of course the very limited invites – I know, the system is only sending out a few invite track e-mails.  I’d rather give fewer people a better experience, than more people a lesser one.

There’ll be more, once the various small bugs are sorted, the course is fully updated, and things are running smoothly.

Still … literally every single e-mail I get, whether it’s about a bug or to remind me that I may have forgotten to answer, is always positive and gentle nudges.  I can’t say how much I appreciate your kindness and patience.

Or maybe the e-mail admin is just a wizard at filtering out negativity.  :D

And then the various past optometry rants.  At that point I probably needed a bit more reality check, but you guys were still being very positive.  Some less supportive types contributed a lot to my soul searching there (we won’t call them trolls and haters today), and the optometrist consultants put a finer point on where and how I was wrong.  In hindsight, I have to say, it’s rather kind of how you put up with my attitude on that front.  Mille grazie!

Jake, you say.  Whatever.  Where’s the vision health topic?

It’s off-topic day.  I just got back from the first ever osteopathy experiment right now, and my neck isn’t sure how it feels about all of it.  I won’t tempt fate by spending a lot of time in front of the computer right now.  I’ve lived with neck pain for at least ten years now, like most guys just ignoring health related things.  Chalked it up to a reckless youth.  Being crap at boxing, skiing faster than my not-cat-like reflexes can justify, riding motorbikes when I shouldn’t have, things we tend to do.  But a friend recently suggested that I go see this osteopath who is supposedly magic when it comes to neck pain.  So … I did.  And we’ll see.  And also, short blog post and off-topicness abounds.

Tomorrow, off to Kuala Lumpur, and then maybe south from there.  Two weeks of letting the vagabond off the leash a bit.  I’m super excited about the new camera, really looking forward to something a bit more interactive Q&A things, anything than just text (though I know that about 95% of readers here prefer text and never even look at Youtube – all good!).

And then upon return, back to various other fun bits.  A closer look at whether doing a private pilots license here could be fun, motorbike shopping, maybe go see some Thai national parks.  In particular with a bit of a thought towards the subject of #thingsworthseeing and maybe a longer term plan of stealing GoPro’s marketing strategy, but applied to myopia (what do you want to see?).

I also never talk about my actual business, which is investing in businesses that aim to help us treat our dear planet earth better.  Interesting things there, though I always feel reticent of mixing subjects.  You come here for eyesight, and I don’t necessarily want to subject you to things that may not be part of your own world view, beliefs, or preferences.  Also would seem unfair to try to increase my credibility based on things not related specifically to the effectiveness of my myopia control methods.  But so many neat things on that front, I get a little tempted by my enthusiasm for guys who create things to help save our planet.  So … maybe a tiny bit of that here, too.  In the off-topic category.

That’s it.  Tomorrow might be a bit weird also, travel day.  I’ll try to dig you up something on topic and fun, though.

Cheers,

-Jake
