Diopters. We stopped calling glasses “prescriptions” a while back, since we don’t believe a reasonable educated individual needs a so-called professional to tell them which piece of clear, curved piece of plastic to buy. (or conversely, keep you from making your own diopter choices)
If anything, we believe that most of the mainstream will give you more diopters than you need, causing progressive myopia and all sorts of long term risky side effects. We feel strongly about education you on the subject of testing your own refraction, of making your own diopter choices. Glasses are far less dangerous than lots of over-the-counter drugs! Read this section for all things related to diopters, learn about the fascinating world of bending light (to your will).
Differential Glasses™: The Link List
differential glasses Update Note: Since the original post many years ago, we stopped using the term 'prescriptions' for the most part. Glasses are clear curved pieces of plastic and can generally be bought in lots of outlets without the need for medical device type of approvals. 'Subscriptions' may be a more accurate term for the lens selling industry practices. The reduced correction you use exclusively for close-up, instead of the distance diopters sold by the optometrist. Meet Me In Fancytown: Roseman Boutique Frame Maker
If you know me, you know how much I'm fond of people making things. Not giant corporations somewhere, and their fashion label empires. Whenever possible, I'd rather put my money in the pocket of the person actually involved in a creative process. In particular when it comes to glasses, real designers are hard to find. Recently I went on a little designer discovery mission. For a couple of new projects I had a perfect excuse to go try to find [...]
Specsavers UK: (Maybe) A Place To Go For Eye Friendly Optometrist Visits
James posts in the forum:I’m back. Had an eye test today.Firstly, I’m amazed. I went to Specsavers (the standard high-street opticians in the UK) and the optometrist was fully supportive of myopia reduction and even said there’re a lot of scientific studies now supporting it (whereas in the past I’d always been told science says it’s not possible). She understood the idea of focus pulling and the blur horizon, and doing regular Snellen tests, and realised that the test she [...]
Kim, 0.50 Diopters Improved: Sometimes Glasses Are A Good Thing
You already know what I think of most optometrist's advice. Yes, sure. If you don't care about your eyes and want a quick fix, by all means .. get that gigantic minus prescription. But then there's the other contingent of foolish advice. (mostly online, this) I'm talking of course about the guys who tell you to never wear glasses. Whenever you read anywhere that you shouldn't wear glasses at all, just close the tab. Click, out, nothing else they say [...]
Christian: Why You Should Wear Glasses
Christian posts in the forum: TL:DR? If you are following this program, are building good eyesight habits and know that you should wear your minus that’s fine. But if you have tried other things and haven’t seen results, have not been wearing your minus, or think it will speed your recovery to just completely go without glasses: you could save MONTHS and YEARS of no improvement by taking some minutes to read this. —————————————————- You may have heard that idiom [...]
Antireflective Lens Coatings: Waste Of Money or Must-Have for Happy Eyes?
If you look through the back catalog of articles, you'll find a fair bit has been written about lenses. And from me in particular, how to save money on lenses. You end up buying a lot of lenses, as you're heading back down the ladder of prescriptions. When you do, you ideally don't want to spend too much money on them. It's a difficult balance, though. High myopia in particular is already really challenging for your brain to deal with (the image is [...]
