#@#% Sugar & How Pericarditis “Treatment” Almost Killed Me
Off-topic Sunday.Have I ever mentioned how much I'm not a fan of the fruit hippie superfood-yoga-mediation movement? Which makes this little story (of how I may well almost have died) all the more ironic. Many years ago, I had a thing called acute pericarditis. Lining of the heart, diagnosed as having to be surgically removed. They told me that the outcome could be "complicated". And as it turns out, they were really badly wrong. Good thing I didn't listen to them. This [...]
Don’t Flip-Flop Between Old & New Glasses
Richard asks in the forum:I received my new glasses and they are defintiely going to take some getting used to. Even with the -3.0 on the left eye, without the astigmatism correction the right is clearer. It was more comfortable to have my regular glasses and add the +1.25 but I guess it is all a process and I will adjust to these. Should I go back and forth for a week or so until I get used to it?I always suggest [...]

Just because they overprescribe doesn't mean that you should go t0o far into the opposite direction with glasses. Simply not wearing glasses at all isn't the answer either.(And neither is the crazy hours long close-up focusing activities I get [...]
The All Important 1,000 LUX Rule
Luxie, luxie.Just the other day I finally got around to updating the Web program to some lux-goodness. It's something Alex wasn't that big on, but I happen to think is not just interesting but also pretty key.You might find it interesting to know, the amount of available light notably affects your eyesight.(Which also, "night blindness" isn't really a thing, at least not in most cases. It's just a matter of those optometrist prescriptions haven't been refreshed in a while, eyes [...]
Is It Possible? 20/50 to 20/15 Vision In 3 Weeks
Kim writes in the forum:So, it’s been about 3 weeks now with my -4.25 (L) and -4.75 (R) normalized prescription. For a while now, I could only see around 20/50 and sometimes 20/40. Starting around middle of last week, I was able to clearing the texts on the Snellen chart, but it has been a bit inconsistent. When I put on my glasses, I could probably only see around 20/50, but then slowly things clear up and I can see 20/25. [...]
