How To Improve Eyesight – Effectively And Without Surgery

In his book, "Story Of The Human Body" Daniel Lieberman has this to say about myopia: Nearsightedness is a complex trait caused by many interactions among a large number of genes and multiple environmental factors. However, since people’s genes haven’t changed much in the last few centuries, the recent worldwide epidemic of myopia must result primarily from environmental shifts. Of all the factors identified, the most commonly identified culprit is close work:intent focusing for long periods of time on nearby images such [...]

Corinne’s Cure Myopia Journey

We have all heard the story from the optometrist:  "Can't cure myopia".  It is for this reason that I like collecting the stories of program participants here, especially posts from the support forum.  But of course I am not the only one providing tools to help reduce and cure myopia.  And while I am biased towards the finer points of the method discussed here, you can absolutely improve your vision using the strategies referenced on some other sites. This particular story [...]

John: Progress From -5.50 to -4.00

John writes:I started this program in July last year (2013), with about -5.5 for both eyes with astigmatism at about -0.5, and a +2.50 add for reading (I am 60 years old). My glasses were progressives. I suspect I may have bee over-prescribed; the progressives eased that over-prescription a bit as tilting the head back a bit gave a lower prescription effect for whatever I was looking at.In September, I had a check up and came out with -4.75 OD [...]

The World’s Best Shop(s) To Buy Your Glasses

Jake writes: Your suggestions for shops were AMAZING.  I've bought glasses in a dozen countries over the years, and everywhere from cheap Websites to nice optic shops.  Nothing compared even remotely to Lutz Paul.  Thanks for the tips!  (also would be a great blog topic) We talk quite a bit about shopping for glasses here in the blog (if you are looking for some more of them, look at the Prescriptions and Glasses category). I do get quite a few [...]

Should You Buy CR-39 Lenses Instead of Polycarbonate?

Ling writes: Alex, I am shopping for a new prescription and am confused from the options.  I have reduced to -1.50 and can see about 20/25 with them.  The optic shop says to buy polycarbonate high index, but since my eyesight improves a lot with your program, I wonder if they are worth the extra money.  What do you think? This is a fairly common question, so let's look at it here briefly. The type of lens material you want [...]

Kathi: 26 Day Progress Report

Kathi writes in the forum:I started wearing glasses over 30 years ago. Just before I started the program I went to the eye doctor just to see what prescription they would tell me I needed. Here it is: Right eye -6.25, left eye -7.00 with -.50 x 165 for astigmatism in the left eye. I didn’t buy those glasses because it was close tho the prescription I was already wearing from 2 years ago.My snellen measurements at the beginning were: (using [...]
