As a bit of background on this, she went to the optometrist, who gave her a much higher prescription than her own centimeter measurements would suggest. Confused about this, she went home and did this:

Neat, right?
You can just convert the optometrist prescription numbers back to centimeters, and then see how clearly you can see at that exact distance.
Everything is pin sharp, no matter the ambient lighting? Stays sharp even if you move back further?
That should tell you all you need to know about overprescription.
(I know, some caveats there, but for all practical purposes this works just fine.)
