Starting Point: -4 To -5 Diopters

Congratulations, sort of.  You have less diopters than many, though it’ll take you a little while to make it back to 20/20.

Which one could say, is kind of good news.  So far all the so-called professionals and doctors have been telling you that nothing at all can be done about your shortsightedness.  They say suck it up, you’re a failure in the vision department.  Give us your credit card, consider yourself lucky we’re here, and buy these glasses.

And then you end up on this page anyway, skeptical ideally, open-minded, hopefully.

Then you start finding out that retail optometry knows that minus lenses cause myopia and that myopia in most cases isn’t an illness at all.  Myopia is usually nothing more than a refractive state, meaning that your eyes simply adapted to both strain (from close-up) and stimulus (of the wrong kind, from minus lenses).

Oops.  And you may look and find more and more articles on the subject, realizing that you’re neither hopeless, nor broken.

That part isn’t really in question, at least not once you explore a bit of the clinical science and studies that can easily be found on Google Scholar.  The real question is, is Cooky VonJakenstein off his regal rocker, or is this particular dirty stock trader and capitalist Schweinehund on to something, with all this talk about reversing myopia?

This is the question.  Is endmyopia just more Internet unicorn farming, or is it the real deal?

Spoiler alert, at the very least it’s run by a amusingly deranged creature of the beard.

But whatever.  What counts is results, and so let’s look at some results for those who started out just like you:

-4 To -5 Diopter Progress Updates

Johnny: -5.50 To No-Glasses 20/20 (In Two Years)

Johnny posts his latest update in the forum: Hi everyone, time for an update on my progress Well this is the big one….the short version of it is that I’ve stopped wearing correction completely during the day! Even though this has been something beyond my wildest dreams for years and years when it actually happened it felt like a non-event. I feel I should be more excited but it wasn’t a huge jump in terms of [...]

Brittany (-4.00): Improved!

You know the drill.  BackTo20/20.  Great, structured, bite-sized, 20-minutes-at-a-time sessions.  And the forum with thousands of searchable stories and per-student breakdown of questions and updates.  And my personal support for all your specific questions. It's great stuff.   But because I'm part hippie (or perhaps just worried about my lifetime karma points), I sneak plenty into the blog here, so anyone sufficiently motivated can absolutely just freeload the key concepts.  Options abound here, there are no excuses [...]

Angela: -5.00 Dropped To -3.75 (at 20/15) In 4 Months

Angela posts a great progress update in the forum.  (Starting 19/Dec/2015 lastest prescription from Optican: L: -4.75 R: -5.00 CYL: -0.25 -0.25)  Angela is now down to just -3.75 at 20/15, and no more astigmatism!Soon we'll hopefully have the universal logging system give us nice charts for everybody's progress.  In the meantime, give Angela a big thumbs up for making excellent progress:original threadNicely done!  Trip status update:  Planning to be back home Friday.  Caught up on e-mail, the forum, and [...]

The 30 Day Trick, From Matthew (-4.00 TO -1.25)

Matthew started at out a -4.00, two years ago.  He since managed to reverse most of his myopia (to -1.25), with persistence and good habits.   If there's one thing I'll teach my child, it'll be to set yourself a goal, and then surround yourself with people who already accomplished what you're just setting out to do.  There's no sense going at it alone, or listening to anyone other than those who are already where you're trying [...]

Peak At My E-Mail Inbox (-4.00, No Glasses, Etc)

Every day has a three hour window of Jake-time for @endmyopia. Some days its a bit more, others a bit less.  I keep track of it, make sure it averages out to about three hours.   The three hour rule helps to solve time sucking problems, instead of just accepting to have to work longer.  Things like e-mail volume spam issues are solved by having an admin, and not doing case specific support (anymore) outside the [...]

Boris: Started At -4.25, Reduced To -3.75 (in 40 days!)

Boris put the first 40 days of his vision improvement journey in BackTo20/20 to some excellent use.  Rather than me spoil it for you, here is all that, straight from him:Nice! (original forum thread, here)And if you were to ask me whether to go to the optometrist after 60 days, I'd probably furrow various eyebrows and suggest you give it some time.  I might say that the optometrist tests all go for worst case scenario, and [...]
