Sara posts her latest update in the forum:
Thought I’d post a brief update as I have a sense that the end of my plateau might be around the corner.
A week and a half ago I realized that I was starving my body. I felt exhausted and could barely move. Then I started fueling myself again, and miraculously, I started feeling normal within a few days. Now I’m following more of an “intuitive eating” philosophy. I posted about it on my new blog:
It started with a smoothie.
Well, this morning I woke up, and discovered that I could focus pull around 20/25 and 20/20. I also found my eyes able to see at least 38 cm, whereas before I’ve been plateauing at 36 or 37. As well, my -1.50 glasses, which were giving me 65 cm MAX, were giving me 69 or 70.
Not sure if this result is stable yet, though. And it may be a while before I have another such good day.
Also, FYI, I tried on the slightly unbalanced prescription, the one with 0.25 diopters more in the right eye, and discovered it was too weak in the left eye. I think my eyes are becoming more equalized (thanks to the small amounts of right eye stimulation I’ve done)! For now I am sticking to the same prescription for both eyes, -3.25.
For some perspective, my original prescription was around -5/-5.5 with some astigmatism on the -5 (right) side.
At this level of eyesight, I’m happy to say that I can take off my glasses and still see people’s faces expressions enough (through the blur) within a meter or two that I can do some film acting without glasses. I was able to be an extra in a TV show the other day, and take off my glasses and see what was going on well enough to act effectively. This was one of the giant reasons why I wanted to improve my eyesight in the first place.
I also had a new stimulus idea yesterday. I was watching a hockey game on a wall of a restaurant, at first without my glasses and then with. Letting my eyes follow the motion, then trying to discern the text, and back and forth, seemed like a way of creating variety and stimulus. I think that my routine has gotten boring. That, coupled with the lack of eating, has resulted in stagnation.
We’ll see if more results come, but I’m not in a hurry now. I’m at peace with my current level of prescription — psychologically, it’s way better for me — though of course it would be nice to move beyond this plateau (which I’ve been at since Oct). Sometimes I think progress depends on having a definite motivation for moving forward. And I would say that in many ways I am comfortable right now.”

Let’s give Sara a thumbs up for taking the time to get us motivated!
I added some thoughts that might help Sara and you as well, if you are stuck on your current prescription. One of the things worth looking at is how Sara reached a point where the prescriptions aren’t nearly as key to her vision as they were before. Getting your myopia under control to a point where you can do without them in a pinch can be a great milestone.
Happy eyes! :-)
