So it’s graffiti now, really? Will he stop at nothing?? I’m just glad that wasn’t my shop..

Anyway, enough about Jake. The point of today’s post is alcohol, and that one glass of wine. It really was just one. In spite of carnival week out here, I really have been very good, with Jake’s session on alcohol and myopia (you know the one) ringing in my ears every time I even think about enjoying a glass of the stuff.

But the day after a glass, I really do have some difficulty doing active focus. It seems to be much more of an effort and causes eye strain. And I can’t say I wasn’t warned, but sometimes I like to find out things for myself.

It is a well-known fact that alcohol affects the central and peripheral nervous system, ie. the brain and all the nerves it controls, and hence all the muscles of the body.  It slows down the transmission of impulses, so that all our reactions to stimuli are slowed. People who have been drinking may have trouble with balance, judgement, coordination as well as eye functions such as eye movements and accommodation. Remember that double vision??!! Well that’s not all.. the other effect you will notice during this program is the difficulty on active focus.

So we have all been warned, alcohol will slow down progress and the reduction of myopia, as Jake says.  He wants what’s best for us. So maybe we will forgive a little bit of graffiti, this time.
