Steve posts an update in the forum:

Hi all,

A lot of things have changed in both my life and my vision over the course of the Summer. The biggest change for me has been moving from a tiny/cramped apartment, to a spacious house. Not only that, but my commute to/from work also doubled from 15mins to 30-40 minutes. While most would hate a longer commute, I rather enjoy it. Gives me more time to use active-focus and focus-pulling while driving over a few bridges with Ocean views.

On top of that, there is room to hang my snellen in a shaded patio outdoors as well as yard work. Overall, I’m just outside so much more. Though, even inside I have more room to sit further back from screens. My TV used to be 6-7 feet away in my old apartment. Now, my couch sits roughly 16 feet away from the TV. It can be bit too far sometimes, so I alternate between the couch and a lounge chair that is about 8 feet away.

Rarely do I use a computer for more than 30 minutes at a time at home now. At work, I spend the least amount of time I can in front of screens while still getting my work done.

My last official check-up was at the end of May this year. Results were OS -6.75D, 1.00C and OD -5.25D, -1.00C.

3 Months later, I am seeing 20/40 in good light wearing OS -5.00D, OD -4.00D (spherical). These glasses were my original differentials I purchased in March 2014. Back then, I couldn’t even comfortably use them for computer-use. Blur line was 40-45cm originally with them. Now, I use them at 55-60cm distance easily and can push focus up to about 80cm.

I also wear the same script in contacts and can see 20/25 or better in most conditions. I am in the quasi double-vision stage where my visual cortex needs to catch up. This can be VERY annoying at times. Taking time in the morning before work and after work before sunset to look at my snellen and active focus during my commute really helps. Patching here and there is helping my Left eye catch up a bit to my right eye.

My CM readings are currently about 16CM OS and 20CM OD. In ideal outdoor lighting, I can push focus to about 18CM OS and 23CM OD.

I have a few new pairs of glasses on order to (hopefully) continue this trend. First pair is a differential with OS -4.25D, OD -3.25D. I also ordered these with CR39 lenses. All previous glasses have been mid-index polycarbonate. Curious to see the optical differences between lens materials.

The other pair are readers for when I wear contacts. Just standard +1.00D, but in a half-rim frame also with CR39 lenses and anti-glare. Curious to see how these compare to my drug-store readers without anti-glare.

That’s all for now, i’ll update once I receive my new glasses.

Of course not all is ever perfect.  My method isn’t a magic spell, and there are those who report slow or no improvements.

Why does that happen?  How does that happen?  And where do I hide those students?

Stay tuned for an article and forum posts about when things aren’t quite going to plan at all.  I do try to post daily, though you can also get updates by liking the wee little Facebook page.

Cheers,
