Will posts his rather impressive first month progress report in the forum:

quotes-blueI’m in month 2, measuring cm’s for the normalized prescription.
Here’s what’s happened so far:

Starting point: (contacts)
R: -5.0
L: -5.25

Starting cm’s:
R: 20
L: 18.5

Day 1, after understanding strain, I immediately put +2.5 readers over my contacts, and within a few days I could see 20/20 with +1 readers for distance.

I ordered different strenght contacts starting at -4/-4.25 and moved all activities possible outdoors. Computer use is max 3 hrs/day at work. Frequent breaks, looking up to 800 yds out the window during the day, with signage scattered throughout. Also pulling focus at dawn and dusk.

It took about 1 month to get voluntary control over ciliary fnx– it’s a momentary defocus — followed by refocus — blink — blink. Now the pushing print is working much better.

As soon as I could see 20/15 indoors, in the morning, I reduced each contacts scrip by 0.25 to where I am currently. Right eye always improves faster than left.

Current cm measurements:
R: 25
L: 23.5

In terms of where I should be for a normalized script, here’s what I experience with contacts:

At:
R:-3.5
L: -3.75

– there is some moderate double vision through out the snellen chart, but it’s relaively faint.
– I can see the 20/30 line without much effort, and most of the 20/20, although it takes some work.
– I get some noticeable bluring indoors.
– I have good vision in bright sun, and ok vision if overcast.

At:
R: -3.25
L: -3.5

– the double vision is more significant on the snellen.
– it takes some work to see 20/30 but I can get most of it, depending upon whether my right eye/brain is able to resolve the double vision — it does so randomly, in and out.
– In bright sun, I get momentary episodes of clear vision, but it fades, and lamp posts will flip from double to single at a distance of about 100 yards.
– when it’s overcast, focusing in the distance is much more difficult, and I have a much harder time resolving double vision.
– Indoors there is significant bluring, and in a dark conference room for example it can be rough.

My plan is to stick with the lower -3.25/-3.5 if that makes sense based on what I’ve described.

I’ve pulled some tips from articles and posts about resolving double vision, but I would welcome any additional direction in that regard if you think appropriate at this stage of the course.”

Nice work!

I add some suggestions about how to deal with the double vision, in Will’s forum thread.  If you have forum access, you can take a look at those, here.

Cheers!
