Michael posts this update in the forum:

michael4improveWell done!

You notice that Michael says, “on the one hand”.  There’s the other hand, which turns into a bit of a discussion about very small astigmatism corrections, and various sorts of optometrists, and things worth reading (if you’re a participant, here’s the whole thread).

That part, another topic for another blog-day.

I’m glad to see the many positive notes on my attempts at being gentle, warm ‘n fuzzy.  It works reasonably well with your support.  And I keep getting optometrist e-mails!  Interesting times.

Pro Tip:  Find an optometrist who is happy to tell you what lenses they’re putting in front of your eyes, during the eye chart exam.  It signifies trust, removes potential implied condescension (oh you don’t need to know!), and allows you to know what kind of lens affects your vision in which way.  You want to know how much that increase or decrease is, when you’re asked “which is clearer, this, or this“.  You want to know whether astigmatism correction is added.  Know what you’re looking at!

Housekeeping Notes:  I’ll be in Malaysia for about two weeks, as of this week.  Blog updates, forum comments, e-mail responses should be continuing as usual.  I’m bringing the new fancy DJI OSMO camera too, for some more Q&A time.

Quite a bit of e-mail too, in response to yesterday’s post.  I’d love to get your stories on what you’re using your eyes for.  Ready for trades as well, if you are in BackTo20/20 – I’d be happy to pay for a month of your installments if you feel like sending pictures or video of what your eyes enjoy looking at.  ;-)  iPhones do great video, and I can help you with some simple edits!  Or even Snapchat or similar, just little snapshots of life.  Make things more visual all around.

And over 18.000 followers now, over on @endmyopia.  Dreaming of doing something similar on a video based platform, #thingsworthseeing.  Ideas?  Let me know!

Cheers,

-Jake
