You’re outside.  The sun is setting.  You are wearing your normalized glasses, which were just perfect for clear vision, up until now.  You’re still walking.  Sunset is turning into dusk, it’s actually getting dark now.  Your blur horizon has been shrinking, double vision image has been increasing, but it’s been all a nice, even progression so far.  But now, just from one moment to the next, it’s too dark.  And you just can’t get any get any focus at all.

What just happened?  Maybe you’re thinking of some posts on the endmyopia blog, discussing what may happen to accommodation and focus in low light.  Maybe that all makes sense, put in perspective by your first hand experience from just now.

But maybe not.  Maybe this is still all new, and you’re wondering whether to stick it out, or if you maybe should go back to the car and grab your full prescription glasses.

What’s the right choice?  Here is my take, in video format.  (I know a large majority of readers prefer the written blog posts over Youtube.  As always when I do it this way, apologies, hopefully you’ll enjoy the topic even if its ‘s video form.)

Housekeeping:  The progress tracking tool for BackTo20/20 has experienced a few setbacks (read, @##$%@# developers).  It’s absolutely still a priority, still being worked on, hopefully we’ll have it up and running relatively soon.  Once we do, I’ll probably be closing BackTo20/20 for new participants.  The goal is to have the participant system be part of an endmyopia clinical study project, rather than a “commercial product”, in the future.

That’s the plan at least, as long as I survive the latest folly, which you might find over at the off-topic, semi-secret Jakey Instagram.

Cheers,
