Today is supposed to be “behind the scenes” day.  This is when you don’t see new blog articles or much else in the way of Alex.  It’s the days dealing with administration, broken code, and all the other things that accumulate.

Going through all the e-mails this morning, I couldn’t resist to post this for you.

Jodi writes:

quotes-blueI have been incorporating your principles for myopia rehabilitation since January 2014 when I first found your website and signed up for the free four week installments. Now I am enjoying your 60 day paid program with all the little extras in it.

I stopped wearing my full prescription for reading (I had no idea!) and started giving my eyes the breaks they needed during close up work.  I am so relieved that with those two items alone I have probably stopped the progression of my myopia!  If only my optometrist would have given me that simple advice.

I measured my eyes (thank you for the ability to do so with your centimetre calculator) and realized I was over prescribed by 0.25 which was probably an accurate snapshot at the time since I went for my appointment right after work when my eyes were tired and strained.  I started wearing my old glasses which were only 0.25 below what my actual prescription is.  I can now see 20/13 with them (hence the need for a prescription reduction)!

I have to admit the active focusing was difficult at first….staring at the letters with the blur mocking me for about three weeks while I just stared!  But then came the big “aha” moment.  Success!  I was able to clear an extra 5cm that day!   And now on any given day I can clear up to an extra 10cm each session.

Thank you for giving me with the ability to have control over my own eyesight. After years of increased prescriptions I really had no hope when it came to my eyesight.  But now I feel empowered to do almost anything!  (No wonder myopia rehabilitation positively affects depression.)”

If I were to make up a testimonial, this would be it.

It would probably less well presented than Jodi had, but it really made my day.  And hopefully reading it made you smile as well.  It’s just … by the book!

Initially, following the program takes some reading, trying, and a definite leap of faith.

Once you get it, the concepts are so simple.  Centimeter measurement.  Overprescription.  Not using your previous regular glasses during close-up.  Managing close-up strain.  Just like anything else it takes a little time, even if I’ve done everything I can to skip any fluff in the course.

And of course, the leap of faith.  Active focus is such a core concept, and yet here you are, having me tell you that I can’t exactly describe to you how to do it.

Blur horizon, differential prescriptions, normalized prescriptions, active focus, they are all stimulus-based concepts.  Your previous close-up strain was a stimulus – it created your initial myopia.  And your subsequent high prescription minus lenses were a stimulus – they increased your myopia.  Of course these are no secrets to science.

On A Side Note:

I had previously asked whether you might be open to video testimonials or adding pictures.  I’m told it adds credibility.  Some of you graciously responded, though with the reasonable concern about privacy.  I realize the request may have been somewhat hypocritical, considering my own aversion to Internet exposure.

Another idea, to consider:

If you’d be open to sending a picture, that an artist would render into an attractive likeness, we might have something interesting.  I pay for the artist’s work, you maintain privacy, and yet readers of your reviews will still have a likeness to put in context.

Send me a quick e-mail, if you would like an artistically interpreted portrait.  For an idea of style:

These would also work well for the support forum, and of course the image is yours to keep and use anywhere else you like as well.

If you would like one, send me a quick e-mail!
